HCM Procedural Documentation
Overview
These documents are intended to provide users of Oracle’s Peoplesoft, Human Capital Management (HCM) application with an overview of the concepts used to process certain transactions, outlining integration points between the modules currently in use.
- HCM Action/Reason Codes provide a listing of code combinations used to process updates to employee Job Data records in the HCM Workforce Administration module. The listing includes a brief description of each combination and the usual effective date used to process each combination – NOTE: individual situations may result in the use of a date other than what is documented in this list.
- Overview of eRecruit assists with determining the process of either hiring an applicant through the Hire Applicants functionality in the eRecruit module or rehiring an employee with Job Data history in the Workforce Administration module.
- Hiring a New Employee outlines to process used to hire an applicant using the Hire Applicants functionality in the eRecruit module.
- Transfer to Classified outlines the records necessary to process transactions to transfer an active employee while also closing a job requisition in the eRecruit module. With minor modifications, the concepts outlined in this documentation can be applied to transfers other than those moving an employee to classified service (e.g. no need for a probation record, change to service date or addition of a benefits row if processing a promotion record).
- Full or Part-time Changes outlines the process for first updating data in a position followed by the updates to an employee’s data in the Workforce Administration module. With minor modifications, the concepts outlined in this documentation can be applied to other Job Data updates that require an update to the position in the Organizational Development module first (e.g. change to department or location, temporary reallocation) – the data changes are different but the process is the same.
Descriptions include information intended to provide general information to HR staff in processing transactions in HCM, and to demystify some of the technical procedures. Again, these are overviews. Individual situations will vary. It is important to review the Action/Reason listing, read bargaining agreements and policy language and/or to contact the Department of Human Resources with questions concerning the specifics of the situation you are addressing.
