What is a Double Fill?
The double filled position is used when there is a need to pay two individuals in the one position. For example, if the reason for the double fill is that an employee is vacating a position but needs to be retained to train a new employee, the Human Resource Administrator from the Department of Human Resources’ Field Operations unit assigned to the department involved needs to specify the length of time being requested for training purposes. Most double fills are for shorter periods of times, such as a week for training purposes or if an employee is going to be out on leave up to three months.
