Class Definition: Scanning, training, retrieval, and coordinating of duties in the Retrieval Unit of the Department of Motor Vehicles. Incumbents in this class are distinguished from lower level classes by the lead worker role and broader knowledge of the Unit's policies and procedures. Duties are performed under the supervision of a Unit supervisor.

Examples of Work: Sets up, operates, and performs operation maintenance on a variety of reproduction, imaging, scanning, duplication machines and equipment. Repairs or authorizes repairs of machinery. Acts as lead operator and provides technical assistance to Unit. Reviews, arranges, and prepares various types of documents for scanning. Maintains records and files. Retrieves information located on film, fiche, or in an imaged database for other units within the department or the public. Prepares source documents for storage. Maintains various Unit files and records. Produces documents and reports as requested. Responds to requests for information or assistance through standardized procedures. Trains employees in machine operation and storage and retrieval of documents. May assign daily workloads or oversee Unit operations in supervisor's absence. Performs related duties as required.

Environmental Factors: Duties are performed either sitting or standing before storage, scanning, or retrieval equipment. Class incumbents may be required to work in an environmentally controlled room. Incumbents must be able to lift moderate weights and have manual dexterity to operate scanning equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic computer functions.

Working knowledge of department and unit rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Working knowledge of English grammar and spelling.

Ability to review, arrange, and prepare various types of documents for scanning.

Ability to learn and perform the operation and operational maintenance of assigned equipment.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to maintain essential files and records.

Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations.

Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Ability to read and follow technical manuals and machine operation instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years or more of clerical work experience.

Preferred:

Document processing experience.
