DHR coordinates with the Agency of Administration and the Governor to determine if emergency closing or delays are necessary.  In the case of such a decision, DHR will update the Current Operating Status found below, the Emergency Phone Line (800-644-4402), local television and radio stations (listed below), and VT-Alert.

Operating Status: Open Except as Identified Below

It is 4:45 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2024.  As a result of localized flooding, Barre City Place will remain closed on Friday, July 12, 2024, as dirt remains in the parking lot.  Barre City Place employees should follow departmental instructions regarding whether to telework or report to an alternate location.

All other state facilities will be open on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Due to localized flooding, washouts and road closures across the region, remote work is encouraged, especially in areas where flooding occurred or where travel is difficult.

All employees specifically designated as essential personnel for reduced workforce situations including Corrections, Public Safety, Congregate Care Facilities and Transportation Maintenance should report to work as normally required.  Employees who are unsure if they are essential personnel should contact their Supervisor.

If you are an essential worker, you should confirm your work location.

Employees who are not able to report to work due to weather or other emergency conditions should contact their Supervisor for further instructions.

Please be aware that travel may be difficult in certain areas where flooding has occurred.  Please reduce travel speeds, exercise caution, do not drive into standing water and allow additional time as you travel.  Everyone is encouraged to check the 511 website  511 Website for the most up to date information on road conditions and route selection and register for a Vermont Alert (VT-ALERT) account to help keep you up to date on emergency situations in your area.

Please be aware that weather conditions will be monitored closely and this website and the Emergency Information Phone Line (800) 644-4402 will be updated as information changes.  Additionally, the television and radio stations list below will be notified.

Real-Time Notifications

DHR has partnered with VT-Alert to create real-time alerts for state employees and the public if necessary. In these situations, all executive branch employees will receive alerts to their state email. Both the state employees and the public can sign up with VT-Alert to receive alerts to a personal email or phone number (with an option for voice and/or text notifications).
