New Name

You may know us as The Summit: Center for State Employee Development, or as the Workforce Development Division.  Here is a sneak preview of our new name -- in keeping with our commitment to supporting strong employee engagement at all levels of state government, the training center will soon be known as the:

Center for Achievement in Public Service (CAPS)

With programs and services for employees, supervisors, managers, and the organizations of state government, the Center for Achievement in Public Service will be a robust resource for training, coaching, facilitation and organizational consulting.

Please continue to look for references to The Summit until our official launch.

New Programming

A new approach to supervisory training will launch April/May 2015. Our longstanding flagship training, the Supervisors’ Development Program (SDP) is getting a make-over to meet the changing needs of supervisors across state government.

The new program will be called:

Supervising in State Government

Level I: The Essentials

Level II: Building Excellence

Visit the Supervisory Training page for more information.

The class schedule and an application for Level 1 will be posted soon.

New Location

The training center will be moving to its new, long-term post-Irene location late April/early May 2015. More space and capacity, expanded training resources and technology, great atmosphere!  Look for us in May on the Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) campus at 32 College Street, Montpelier VT 05602. We are making some very exciting changes to our programs so please check this site frequently!
